Self-Awareness

How often do you stop and think about what’s going on in your mind and body and how it is connected to your behavior? Being aware of your strengths and weaknesses or even why you tend to react in a certain way, can assist you in making choices that are good for you and frankly make you more likeable. It is beneficial for your mental health to be aware of your feelings and consider why they surface. There are many adults who are walking around simply unaware of why they feel the way they do or how their bodies react- this makes regulating their nervous system almost impossible and a disregulated person is no fun to be around.

Do the adults in your life rage about seemingly mundane things? Do they believe they are experts on all topics? Blame others for their reactions? Recognizing your triggers, thinking about why you have them, and learning how to respond is an important part of growing up and when you’ve been raised by adults who are unable to this, it is difficult to grasp this skill on your own.
